Weekender

Posted on: Sunday, October 29th, 2006 at 7:05 PM

I have a week off, so I decided to have a seriously lazy weekend reading books and playing Football Manager 2007. Within a short space of time I ( using the managerial pseudonym Sir Wilfrid Winterbottom ) guided my team to a domestic treble within my first season in charge. As I wished to be a club legend I resigned and took charge of a lowly English Conference team. Its not working out and regardless of my track record, I’m due to be sacked if I lose my next game.

I was on the bus on Saturday when an old man who was drunk shouted to a little girl about six years old who was traveling alone ( SHOCKING! ) that ‘ If I hear you pimp again I’ll chop yer fuckin hands aff ‘

For readers who are not used to Glaswegian: The drunk told the girl not to break wind or something bad might happen to her.

Glasgow can be a strange place. Not one passenger said anything, not even the pensioners and pensioners on buses are usually the first people to say something to drunks or people who shout swear words.

Finally, I have received some emails regarding an update on the life of Glen Michael. I do not work at the same place as him anymore so I cant help and lets respect Cecil’s privacy!

Glen Michael

Posted on: Saturday, September 23rd, 2006 at 4:53 PM

Everyday, more and more people come to my blog looking for Glen Michael. A lot of traffic have came from Glen-o-philes and I welcome you all. The guy is a living legend and I bet he could heal the sick. He deserves some kind of civic award.

Ive not seen Glen in several months and I think he no longer dines in the Citypark Restaurant which I don’t blame him so he has a discerning palette. ( Here, looking at the website where the hell is the Bistro??)

Glen Michael Wikipedia

The continually wonderful Mr Buckland has a nice entry on

Glen’s Wikipedia Entry

I thought I would mention this to the silent lurkers who come by my blog in their on going quest for information on the living legend. Why he hasn’t been given an OBE I don’t know. Ive not seen him around for quite some time. Maybe next time I will muster the courage to speak with him. My father claimed to have known him back in the 1970s for reasons lost in the midsts of time ( my theory on this is due to charity/kids entertaining gubbins that dad helped out with or organised) I always asked dad how he knew Glen. The reply I would get was ‘ Oh I cant tell you that son! ‘

Strange that..

A few years ago I was told an urban legend about Cecil. He was doing a hospital visit and gave a sick kid a couple of quid. I am uncertain if this is indeed true, but if you were the sick kid and are reading this as long as you did not die - make yourself known and confirm my story!
