Weekender

Posted on: Sunday, September 10th, 2006 at 3:31 PM

I had a really good Friday night. We discovered a new venue that I will frequent from time to time. Boho in the West End has a really good mix of clientèle and I was hard pressed to try and spot a ned. For toilet aficionados, the gents was a wonderful experience and clean, with no twigglets in the cubicles. If you are male, and appreciate nice girls, then Boho is for you..

One thing, never mix Tequila with Cocktails.. I’m not a tequila merchant, or a cocktailer and thankfully I’m glad of that. In the cocktail bar I saw people with expensive champagne about £100 a bottle. I want their day jobs.

£100 for drink that will soon be processed into a liquid which will pour out of the urethra is a bit too much for my scrooge like tendencies when it comes to alcohol. During my fat Elvis period I could drink anyone over and under the table. Now, in my underweight period I drink very little. The Glasgow artist Stuart Murray once said ‘ Two pints an hes embdys… ‘

( For non Glaswegians.. The translation of the quote is ‘ After quaffing two pints of beer, he will go with anyone ‘

Which was, and still is not true.

Ironing

Posted on: Saturday, September 9th, 2006 at 1:09 PM

I have noticed that my clothing budget is once again on the increase and its partly due to my personal hatred of ironing. My shirts end up usually half ironed with creases I cant get rid of and my trousers end up in the dry cleaners. Ironing hatred is costing me a small fortune.

Has anyone got useful tips on ironing? Especially trousers. Is it my iron?

The person that invents 100% crease less clothing will own the world. The best use for my iron was the toasted sandwich I made by using my iron a few months back.

The Joy Of Vaseline

Posted on: Wednesday, September 6th, 2006 at 5:40 PM

Vaseline, has many uses, both for external and internal uses. I seem to be the only person around who uses industrial strength Vaseline on my hair.

I told someone this the other day and that person looked at me as if I were an alien form of sometimes. Vaseline, is cheap, holds the hair in place, and gives a nice sheen ( as long as one doesn’t use too much )

Ive yet to find a suitable replacement. If you know of anything that controls unmanageable hair that is naturally frizzy, please let me know. Bit of variety..

Student Loan Tax

Posted on: Monday, September 4th, 2006 at 5:17 PM

Yes, I knew when I was 21 this would happen..

But when time passes and one is not in a job related to their student years and resulting qualification, it hits home how unjust a tax this was. I looked in my payslip today and a good amount given to Student Loans.

Oh why oh why Tony?

Heaven knows Im miserable now

Posted on: Sunday, August 27th, 2006 at 10:26 AM

Ive been blogging here for almost a year now. When I first started a marginal walker it was just going to be a blog of random musings ( it still is, or I hope it is! ) As regular readers are aware I have blogged a lot about my late mother and her breast cancer battle.

The archives of the blog in relation to what mum, my family and her friends went through are all there to be read. It is frank, sometimes raw and deeply personal. It had to be. I want those archives to serve as a warning, a possible window into the future for women out there who are afraid to go to the Doctor if they have found any lumps or changes in their breasts. Delay the issue and you die like my mum.

If those blog postings from Nov 2005 - Feb 2006 can somehow make a difference for a worried woman and influence her to go to get a check up, then the sharing of my pain and grief throughout the whole process would have been worthwhile if it ended up saving someone’s life.

Last night, I was in conversation with someone who came across my blog a few weeks ago. She had read all the posts of this blog. Somehow though, she believed that I am a very unhappy person after reading my blog and she found that unsettling.

( I originally included some swear words here, but I have edited them out.. )

Apologies, but anyone who has lost a loved one due to a horrific illness such as metastatic breast cancer can not be happy every day during and after the whole process. Her comments have angered me so much that I am posting them on this blog.

My blog, and everyone’s else’s blog only captures a small part of a person’s life. Personally I lead a good comfortable life with a lot of laughter these days which has been such a fantastic comfort during days when I have felt unhappy. There is so much yet to do, such as musical ambition which can often trouble me due to either slight procrastination or lack of will.

I only post on what I feel is relevant at the time. If its a happy post then so be it. If it is a melancholic toned posting then again, so be it.

On closing I really hope that this girl never wakes up and discovers breast lumps, or has any close family members in the future with any form of terrible illness that is too far gone for treatment. If it does happen, you certainly wont be smiling or feeling positive everyday. In fact, during that time you might get told by some fool that you are a very unhappy person.

That would be rather unsettling wouldnt it?
