About Me
Posted on: Wednesday, November 23rd, 2005 at 9:08 PMOkay, you have been reading the Blog, I guess you are slightly curious about the author.
Who am I?
My name is Stephen Sherry, I’m 28 years old and currently live in Glasgow. For the last ten years now Ive been calling myself a musician. I play keyboards and have a passion for making electronic music.
However, making music does not pay unless one has a recording contract, so I work in business sales during the day, which is always challenging but financially rewarding and keeps me from enduring the depression and despair of working for the Goverment as a signwriter.
My life to date has been mostly uneventful, but I have experienced a few purple patches in my adult life that I wish would never end. But as we all know life can be a bit of a heavy battle from time to time. So I will keep dreaming that the next purple patch will last much longer.
I guess that is what everyone’s lives are like!
My Music
I compose electronic music that does not really fit into any sort of regimented genre. You can either dance to it, or simply sit and listen. My personal musical brief is to make music that is melodic, perceptive and hopefully create something that the listener will remember when he/she switches off their music system.
Only the listener can decide if I was successful in my brief.
The downside to my music is my quest for sonic perfection. I have ideas that should one day be shaped into six albums worth of material. The amount of time I spend on a track can last several weeks, months or even years. That is my only problem with my music. If I overcame the sonic procrastination, then I would be successful.
About the blog
I have blogged for a while now on under various guises. Unfortunately for some reason I end up deleting the blog when I read over what I posted months before. The most recent: ‘ a margin walker ‘ was a blog that covered my emotional feelings regarding the end of a relationship and the shock of my mother’s breast cancer battle. It also covered my thoughts and feelings on overcoming difficult and depressive times via talking to a counsellor which aided in reshaping my motivation in life.
That blog was rather secretive in regards to the authoring. I never gave much away such as revealing my name etc. Having read many other blogs, the best policy is to make yourself known. There is nothing to hide, but don’t talk about work in great detail in case one gets sacked!
Now this new blog will be more open, I will post anything I feel that is worth posting, from the criticisms to random abstract humour and thoughts.
My blog also has the full story on my mother’s very brave battle with Breast Cancer in which ended with her sudden passing. I would like others to read it and use it as a warning to women who do not go for regular breast examinations due to fear or ignorance. My mum was afraid and ignorant about her own breast health. If you are like her, read my story and see the window into your future.
Why ‘ a marginal walker ‘ ?
I always liked the term ‘ margin walker ‘ Initially I wanted that as a name for my musical projects, but as far as my research has found, there is a musical project already using that name.
Six things I can’t live without
1. My life
2. My computer
3. Music
4. Good friends
5. Doctor Who
6. My synthesiser
